6 Underground Review: 4 Ups & 6 Downs
2. There Are Two Enjoyable Action Sequences
Though Bay's slapdash direction actively works against the movie's action sequences, there are two set-pieces in the second half of 6 Underground that (mostly) deliver on the "Bayhem" audiences expect.
A heist sequence set in Hong Kong boasts an incredible setting and a ton of moving parts - parkour, snipers, running water, and explosions - while Bay slows his cutting down just a tad to make the experience less of a headache.
The film's final showdown also boasts an amusing action beat involving magnets that, if nothing else, ends the movie on a fittingly insane note.
Nobody's going to rank these scenes among the best-crafted of Bay's career, but compared to the incomprehensible opening car chase, they're positively miraculous.
