6 Underground Review: 4 Ups & 6 Downs
1. The Sharp Cinematography
Though Bay undermines a lot of the film's visual impact with the aforementioned poor editing and camerawork, those moments when he actually holds the camera still reveal some quite gorgeous lensing from veteran cinematographer Bojan Bazelli.
It won't surprise anyone that Bay's penchant for eye-popping imagery meshes well with the film's 4K HDR presentation on Netflix, allowing the sweeping establishing shots in Hong Kong in particular to compliment the epic sense of scale.
It's certainly not Bay's best looking movie, and not by a long shot, but you can't call its visuals bland or generic, no matter that Bay tramples over a lot of Bazelli's fine work in the editing process.
