6 Unexpected Surprises From Oscars 2014 Nominations

1. Alone Yet Not Alone Gets Best Original Song Nomination

Alone Yet Not Alone Do you want to know who is probably most surprised about this nomination? Everyone involved in making the film. Can you wrap your head around this? A movie that has not been reviewed by a single professional critic and does not seem to have had a proper release in 2013? How did this even happen? The song that's been nominated, "Alone Yet Not Alone," was written by Bruce Broughton and Dennis Spiegel and they are probably in complete disbelief right now. My heart goes out to them too. But, I have been following the Oscars for over ten years and their inclusion among the nominees just seems bizarre. Either the producers of the movie had an incredible marketing team or the portion of the Academy that votes for Best Original Song are extremely thorough. This is not merely a surprise, it's dumbfounding. Now, the question is, will they be invited to perform the song in front of Hollywood and millions of people around the world? That will be interesting to see.
