6 Ways Disney Can Still Save Pirates Of The Caribbean 6

3. Three Character Dynamic

Jack Sparrow is the Pirates Of The Caribbean for some people. While it’s an understandable sentiment, it does a disservice to the great work Keira Knightly and Orlando Bloom did as Elizabeth Swann and Will Turner.

Those two aren’t going to return, but then given that their arc is closed, it wouldn’t make much sense anyway. However, what Disney must do is recreate their dynamic. To some extent in 3, but certainly in 4 and 5, Pirates has felt like a Jack Sparrow solo movie, which never felt like the intention back in Curse Of The Black Pearl.

Sparrow was the lead in the way Star-Lord is the lead in Guardians Of The Galaxy. It’s back to a Marvel comparison but that’s the level of quality and revenue every franchise is aiming for these days. While Chris Pratt is undoubtedly the star, it never feels like it’s him plus some others. It’s him with some others. Pirates 6 needs the same feel to it.

Whatever direction they go in next, it must be focussed on creating a living, breathing world. Too often it’s been just dropping a popular character into a new outlandish situation and hoping it sticks.
