6 Ways To Save The James Bond Franchise After Spectre Disappointed

5. Ditch The Screenwriters

John Logan did the bulk of writing on Skyfall, but the fact that Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace scribes Neal Purvis and Robert Wade did a rewrite on his Spectre screenplay could explain why it ended up falling short of its predecessor. They've been with the Bond franchise for some time now, and while they're both capable, their departure would be a great way to help this franchise truly move on from its mediocre past. While Casino Royal certainly helped to bring Bond into the 21st Century, a different writer being given control of the next movie would bring a fresh new voice to the character's adventures, hopefully moving us away from the tropes of the past and the rather tedious throwbacks to previous iterations of the character. Paying homage to the Roger Moore era made Spectre feel like a parody at times and did the movie no favours. There are any number of possible candidates out there, though following the Star Wars franchise by finding filmmakers who grew up loving James Bond but want to provide their own spin on things feels like the smartest solution if MGM hopes to move past Spectre and put 007 back on the right track. With superhero movies dominating the box office and Bourne months way from returning, some sort of shake up is a must.
