6 Ways To Save The James Bond Franchise After Spectre Disappointed

1. Go Back To The Books

If you've read Ian Fleming's superb series of James Bond novels, you'll no doubt agree that what made Casino Royale so great was that it felt like it was one of the first movie's in the franchise to do them justice. That's once again faded as time has gone on, but returning to them for inspiration would be awesome, especially if MGM start adapting titles like From Russia With Love and Dr. No in a more faithful way (reboots if you will). The similarities between the previous movies and source material often stops at the name, so there's a ton of great material there which could easily be modernised and brought to the big screen for a new audience. Supporting characters, enemies, and many facets of the character's personality have yet to be adapted, and going back to Fleming's work might lead to an overdue curtain call on many of the tropes from the movies. Of course, if MGM really wanted to try something different, making the next Bond a period piece set in the '50s or '60s could be great fun. The problem with the modern Bond is that as technology becomes more advanced, so too do the threats he faces, and this back to basics approach could give him a more personal challenge. Another bonus would be that we could bid adieu to all of that annoying Sony product placement...
