6 WTF Links Between Ridiculously Different Movies

4. From Mitchell...

Mitchell Poster 01 Here at number four we have the connection that inspired this entire article (in case you were wondering.) The titular Mitchell was played by none-too-shabby character actor, Joe Don Baker, who has a thing for playing Texan law men (Final Justice, Walking Tall, etc.). While Baker is a decent actor and has had brushes with competency, the bulk of his work is best epitomized by Mitchell: a truly unappealing Schlitz-swilling antihero who has a problem with authority. The story focuses on Mitchell's attempt to take down a sleazy rich white guy lawyer (played by John Saxon, so bonus WTF connection to Enter the Dragon) for murder one. His superiors don't want him on a case that's FBI jurisdiction, so they send him to stakeout another sleazy rich white guy, played by Martin Balsam (another bonus WTF connection to Psycho). Mitchell also hooks up with a prostitute, future daytime television star Linda Evans, before turning her in for a negligible amount of weed. It's 70s B-movie fare at its best/worst.

...To Cool Hand Luke

Coolhandluke 117pyxurz Beyond competency, Baker's also had brushes with greatness: Goldeneye, Junior Bonner, and Cape Fear. All of those are eclipsed, however, by Cool Hand Luke. Sure, Baker only had one line ("No man can eat fifty eggs.") and actually goes uncredited, but when you're sharing the screen with Paul Newman, do you really care?
