4. The Avengers (1998)
Who's in it?: Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman, Jim Broadbent, Sean Connery, Eddie Izzard, Patrick Macnee This is not the 2012 much-loved superhero blockbuster you think it is. This was a crappy 1990s adaptation of a pop;uar British TV Show which from what I hear was kind of like Doctor Who, James Bond and Captain Scarlet mixed together. I'm not going to say if that's true or whether or not the TV show was any good because honestly I've never seen it. The movie on the other hand... eurgh. Maybe Ralph Fiennes grew up with the show or something because that's the only reason I can think of that would entice him to get involved. Sean Connery was 007 so I can sort of see why he'd turn up to a spy-flick as some kind of in-joke, and to be fair, who else were you going to get to play a rich-British-boss guy other than Jim Boardbent? But why the hell was Uma Thurman there? What attachment did she have to the project? And again, did she not even READ the script? Did Sean Connery getting struck by lightning just seem like a good idea at the time? And I suppose I should mention Edddie Izzard and Patrick Macnee too, the guy who played the lead in the original TV Show. Well... they were in it too.
