7 Best And 7 Worst Releases On Netflix In April
10. Best - Match Point
Woody Allen directs a barely twenty year-old Scarlett Johansson in Match Point, the four-time Golden Globe nominated film that despite the poster, isn't really about table tennis.
Originally, the part of Nola Rice was to be played by Kate Winslet but when she pulled out they cast future Black Widow in the lead role. This meant her character switched to an American one because... Well, not everyone can do a proper British accent.
Allen said at the time that it was potentially his best film ever and it certainly cleaned up at the box office, taking $70m more than it cost to make. You should know by now what you're getting for your money with a Woody Allen film. Match Point's soundtrack is made up largely of pre-1914 arias sung by an Italian tenor, including a heavy chuck of Verdi, and there's a pretty lengthly murder scene that offsets the opera beautifully.
You'll love Match Point, it's on Netflix now.
