Movies set in space are a tricky thing to get right. Most of us have never been, obviously, so how can we be sure what it's really like?

If you're a fan of The Last Days on Mars, your existence is probably as bleak and lonely as life on the red planet. Liev Schreiber, who is fantastic in Ray Donovan, leads the cast in this confusing piece which never really goes anywhere.

It looks stunning and you can see how it's taken visual cues from Alien, and the works of Paul Greengrass and Michael Mann, it's just that you're not bothered which of the characters lives or dies, and about thirty minutes in you're more excited about finding continuity errors than you are survival.

The Jordan desert doubles as Mars - producers airbrushed out the greenery which is a shame, because leaving it in might have made this one more watchable.

The Last Days on Mars enters Netflix orbit on April 18th.
