12. Worst - A Stand Up Guy
It's like the screenwriter fell asleep during an episode of Lillehammer and woke up with a new idea with exactly the same premise.
In A Stand Up Guy, Israeli-born Danny A. Abeckaser plays Sammy Lagucci, a mafioso in witness protection sent from the big city to a backwater town. Only this time instead of a picturesque town in Norway, you get Wisconsin. Type that into the thesaurus and 'average' comes up, right above 'suburbia'.
Before making the jump to acting, Abeckaser spent more than fifteen years running bars and clubs in New York, which is why his character looks at home in his new life as a stand up. It's just a shame his performance feels like watching a tanned Steven Van Zandt in a pair of lifts.
This vanilla effort aside, he's still set for stardom, appearing opposite Bruce Willis and Dave Bautista in Marauders later this year.
A Stand Up Guy takes to the stage on May 9th.
