7 Bizarre Cinematic Universes That Are Actually Happening
4. Robin Hood Cinematic Universe
Oh, right. Robin Hood, eh? In a scramble to create cinematic universes out of whatever it is they can get their hands on, Sony decided that a Robin Hood one might be a good shout - presumably without thinking too hard about what something like that might involve. After all, there aren't many characters inherent to the Robin Hood universe - aside from Robin Hood - capable of leading their own movies. Are Sony hoping for a Friar Tuck spin-off? Will audiences find themselves piling into theatres to watch that long-awaited Little John prequel? Seems unlikely. According to the Hollywood Reporter, though, that's kind of the intention with "Hood" - they want an Avengers-styled universe and everything. Seriously:
"The plan is to make a series of movies focusing on the outlaw archer and his band of Merry Men: Little John, Friar Tuck and Will Scarlett. One could say they were the superhero team of England's Middle Ages. The tone of the story has been described Mission: Impossible and the recent Fast & Furious movies."
The best quote here, of course, is: "One could say they were the superhero team of England's Middle Ages." One could definitely say that. Or, how about not at all? So Robin Hood in the vein of Fast & Furious, and then, uh, Mission: Impossible as well? It's kind of hard to imagine how a series set in the 15th century could resemble those franchises in any way at all. But, hey, this is Hollywood - anything's possible!
