7 Box Office Records Already Destroyed By Jurassic World

3. Biggest Worldwide Opening Weekend Ever

No movie had ever earned half a billion dollars in a single weekend at the global box office before, which makes this record one of Jurassic World's most impressive achievements. The previous record stood at $483.2m, which was set by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 back in 2011. That was the culmination of the biggest franchise in history, coming to an end after ten years and eight movies, which makes the fact that the record was so easily broken by Jurassic World an incredible feat.

After just three days in theaters, the fourth entry in the dinosaur-centric franchise had already earned an astounding $524.1m at the worldwide box office, which instantly made it the fifth biggest hit of 2015 in the space of a single weekend. While Jurassic World's $315.6m opening just narrowly edged out Deathly Hallows - Part 2's $314m, the record-setting domestic gross pushed Colin Trevorrow's movie above the half-billion mark, laying down a marker that Jurassic World was well on its way to becoming one of the biggest movies in history.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
