It was clear that Warner Bros.'s Justice League film was doomed early in its production. Its immediate predecessor, Batman V. Superman, debuted as not just one of the worst superhero movies of all time but as one of the worst major studio productions ever filmed. On top of that, director Zack Snyder had to leave the movie due to a personal tragedy and was replaced by Joss Whedon, who was already burnt out on two Avengers films.

Whedon's release of the film received pitiful reviews and was only given the distinction of being better than Batman V. Superman, a low bar if there ever was one. Almost immediately after the film premiered, Snyder fans began insisting that there was a so-called "Snyder Cut," a version of the film that predicated Whedon's involvement which was a superior edit of the movie.

Due to the way that film production works, a Snyder Cut literally could not exist. But that hasn't stopped Snyder from doing multiple interviews where he discussed his plans for Justice League, including additional characters that Whedon had cut, set ups for a five-film arc, and alternate color schemes and tones.

Though he has never outright confirmed the Snyder Cut, his continued tease of what his version would have looked like has only hurt what little praise Justice League received in the first place.
