Quentin Tarantino is without question one of the most talented and popular directors working today. Ever since
Reservoir Dogs hit the scene in 1992, his combination of zany dialogue, dark comedy, over-the-top violence, and memorable characters have made him a favorite amongst movie fans. Tarantino has earned a reputation as a filmmaker who can resurrect a fading star's career (John Travolta in
Pulp Fiction) or introduce an unknown to a wide audience (the amazingly awesome Christoph Waltz). However, his last two films,
Inglourious Basterds and
Django Unchained, featured established movie stars in no need of a career boost (Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio respectively). Tarantino has spent the latter part of his career enticing the A-listers to play in his sandbox (remember, he wanted Will Smith for
Django originally), so there's a chance he could look to sign another star to headline his next movie. Whatever it is, I'm sure we're all looking forward to it and here are some famous actors who would be a great fit in any future Tarantino project.
7. Robert Downey, Jr.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say if the Weinstein Company announced RDJ was going to star in Tarantino's next film, the Internet would break. These two are seemingly made to work with each other and it's amazing it hasn't happened yet. Downey possesses all the qualities you would look for in a Tarantino actor. He has a great sense of humor, terrific comedic timing, bleeds charisma, has tremendous screen presence, and is a genuinely talented thespian. He also has the ability to pull off comedy and drama, so whatever character he plays he would be a perfect fit for Tarantino's dialogue. A method actor who takes his work seriously, Downey would be able to transform into whatever whacky creation Tarantino has in store. Becoming one of the biggest movie stars on the planet thanks to his role as Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, working with Tarantino would give Downey an opportunity to break out of his genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist comfort zone and show off his acting chops. His popularity could also be used as a major selling point and help draw new audience members in to a film they would otherwise not see. He's shown in the past that he won't shy away from controversial roles (who can forget his unbelievable turn in 2008's
Tropic Thunder, black face and all?) and as he steps away from Iron Man, he may look for some opportunities to push himself. This would be a wonderful collaboration.
