7 Fantastic Disney Movies That are Constantly Overlooked

2. Lilo & Stitch

Charming. Adorable. Downright weird. Lilo & Stitch was a different kind of animated movie for Disney. The animation was bouncy and round instead of rigid, the soundtrack featured Elvis Presley as the obsession of an adolescent girl, and for once, it was the older sibling playing the part of both parents, probably to the most realistic, modern, and heartbreaking level than any Disney film before it. L&S definitely has its fair share of laughs and action, but it's also a film of such warmth and heart that it can't be overlooked. It created lovable, instantly recognizable characters and combined them with a story filled with compassion, love, and family. It's no wonder the team behind it went on to make Dreamworks' excellent How to Train Your Dragon, but it's sad that an animated television show (though excellent in premise) and a few straight to DVD sequels have seemingly knocked this film down lower on the favorites shelf for some fans.

Cameron Carpenter is an aspiring screenwriter, current film and journalism student, and self-diagnosed cinephile, which only sounds bad in certain circles. Devoted fan of comics, movies, theater, Jesus Christ, Sidney Lumet, and Peter O'Toole, he sometimes spends too much time on his Scribd and comicbookmovie.com, but doesn't think you're one to judge, devoted reader. You can follow him on Twitter to watch him talk to people you didn't know exist. Oh, and Daredevil is quite the big deal around here (my head).
