7 Fantastic Disney Movies That are Constantly Overlooked

1. Oliver & Company

Is it a stretch to call Billy Joel's Dodger the coolest Disney character of all time? He's a street-savvy, New York style mutt with a soulful voice, easy-going demeanor, and undeterred loyalty that should rank among Disney's finest, but often gets lost behind the likes of Aladdin or other Disney princes. But with music featuring some of the best soft rock bands of the eighties (Huey Lewis & the News, Joel himself) and an impressive supporting cast (Cheech Marin, Richard Mulligan, Dom DeLuise, Frank Welker, and Bette Midler), this modern spin on Charles Dickens' classic is too adorable to ignore. The major problem? It's not long enough. Coming in at just 74 minutes, you might feel like you've just sat down by the time the movie is over. Still, you can't bypass this one without wanting to go jump on traffic all over New York City, howling into the sky.

Cameron Carpenter is an aspiring screenwriter, current film and journalism student, and self-diagnosed cinephile, which only sounds bad in certain circles. Devoted fan of comics, movies, theater, Jesus Christ, Sidney Lumet, and Peter O'Toole, he sometimes spends too much time on his Scribd and comicbookmovie.com, but doesn't think you're one to judge, devoted reader. You can follow him on Twitter to watch him talk to people you didn't know exist. Oh, and Daredevil is quite the big deal around here (my head).
