7 Finest Movie Smokables

1. Time Travelling Cigar - The Time Machine

The 1960 film, The Time Machine, features at the head of this list with perhaps the finest smokable in film. The smokable in question is a cigar, but it is never smoked during the film nor will it ever be, as it is sent off into the future in a time-travelling experiment. The Time Machine was written by HG Wells and is set in Victorian England in 1900, the film stars Rod Taylor as H George Wells in recognition of the author. If you've recently seen the episode of The Big Bang Theory where Leonard & friends inadvertently purchase a time machine, then you'll be familiar with the exact same machine from the 1960 film. In The Big Bang Theory, Leonard thinks he has bought a miniature version of The Time Machine, only for it to be the full-size prop. Of course, hilarity ensues and the episode is pretty good. But getting back to The Time Machine (the 1960 film), we can see the original miniature which Leonard thought he had bought. H George Wells has a fully working, tiny machine which he uses as a demonstration of time travel. Without anybody small enough to fit inside it, he instead chooses a cigar to be the very first time traveller, and places it snugly in the seat. Setting the controls to forwards, the machine disappears, with cigar happily at the controls, forever on a course into the future. So there you have it. If you ever want to quit smoking, just put your pack of cigarettes in a miniature time machine and it'll be gone forever! Just don't replace the cigarettes with a Calabash Meerschaum! Let me know what you think is the finest movie smokable in the comments below!

I like writing about films and hope you like reading about them too. And watching them, of course.
