3. South Park
Very much like the previous entry, South Park is full of Star Wars gags and in-jokes. The references are also just as multifarious: Chef's transformation in the "Return of Chef" episode is reminiscent of Anakin's transformation to Darth Vader Revenge of the Sith; in "Pinkeye", Cartman makes fun of Kyle's costume, shouting, "Why don't you go back to Endor, you stupid Wookiee!" Kyle responds, "Wookies don't live on Endor!" and Cartman mocks him; and in the episode "Clubhouses", Cartman and Kenny's clubhouse is named "Ewok Village 2000." It is no secret that Trey Parker and Matt Stone love Star Wars, as they go to that well again and again. In the awesome "Free Hat" episode, we saw Kyle, Stan, Cartman, and Tweek see a "re-re-re-release" of The Empire Strikes Back. It features both George Lucas and Steven Spielberg as prominent characters, and makes several references to both Star Wars and Indiana Jones. This brings us to "The Chewbacca Defence" - possibly the one of the best pieces of South Park satire, and it too involves Star Wars. The "Chewbacca Defense" is a legal strategy used by Johnnie Cochran in the South Park episode "Chef Aid". Cochran shows the jury a picture of Chewbacca and gives a speech about how the fact he is talking to them about Chewbacca during the trial "does not make sense." He continues this line of defense with increasingly silly reasons why talking about Chewbacca during a trial does not make sense. His speech confuses the jury to the point that one juror's head explodes. A very funny moment.
