4. The Overabundance Of Cliches

Another aspect of the trailer that completely befuddles me is how it's rife with cliches. The way these two lovebirds first interact with each other is through the most over-used meet-cute of all-time: both of them bending down to pick up an object. Girl drops notebook and when she goes to pick it up, what does she find? The love of her life! Love at first sight! Who knew that the best way to meet your future significant other is through being extremely clumsy all the time? The "hand floating through the air while riding in a car" scene has not only been done before, it's dangerous! This girl is riding inside a convertible with the top down, after all, she doesn't need to fully extend her arm out the window to feel the extreme bliss of the air on her hand. Also, what is up with her eyes in this scene? Is she high?

If all that wasn't cliche enough for you, they actually make sweet love by a fireplace in this movie. There's also a super-dramatic scene in the shower with Pettyfer's character, which is totally not just an excuse to see his pecks. Lastly, and most importantly, there's yet another maddening moment in the trailer that I have to clear the air on...
