7 Horror Movie Prequels That Need To Happen
6. Event Horizon
The prequel to Event Horizon practically writes itself. Whist the original focused on a crew of astronauts sent on a rescue mission to investigate the titular spaceship after it mysteriously disappeared, the prequel could focus solely on the Event Horizon’s original crew and mission.
In the film we learn that the Event Horizon’s mission caused a rift in the space–time continuum causing it to visit another dimension, only to return to ours with no crew and an evil entity onboard. The prequel could explore the sheer horror of the other dimension that the Event Horizon’s crew encountered, which in many ways is a more exciting story than the rescue mission one we got.
Event Horizon has aged well and built up a somewhat cult-like status in the sci-fi horror genre. Watched now and its old fashioned creepy, haunted house-like approach and unapologetic gore is still just as affecting as when released. A similarly toned prequel, delving into the full extent of the otherworldly horrors that so menacingly simmered throughout the original, could be thoroughly enjoyable.
