7 Major Reveals From The Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice Prequel Comics

2. The Destruction Of LexCorp Tower

The destruction of the Wayne Financial building in Metropolis is what inspires Bruce Wayne to take action against the Man of Steel in Batman v Superman, and it appears as if LexCorp Tower also becoming a victim of the battle between the hero and General Zod is why Lex Luthor starts to conspire against what he perceives to be an alien threat. While the villain has actually benefited from the attack by buying up the destroyed properties and selling them off as the city is redeveloped, his cheerful public persona quickly disappears when his seemingly heroic efforts to help Metropolis are compared to what Superman does. Lex quickly brushes that off by pointing out that no one really knows all that much about the Man of Steel, but it's becomes clear during a conversation with his assistant Mercy Graves that he believes those who support the superhero are idiots and that he's a coward for not getting involved in larger geopolitical issues. His hatred for Superman really seems to stem from the fact that he knows so little about him and his intentions for Earth (not to mention the fact his ego took a knock when his new building was destroyed). However, Luthor's comic ends with him deciding to learn as much as he can about the hero, and it's clear that he's obsessed with finding out more about the Kryptonian.
