7 Marvel Villains Saved By The MCU
6. Kingpin
2003's Daredevil is a film that honestly gets more flak than it deserves. Sure, it was far from perfect, but it honestly did have a lot going for it, especially as far as performances went.
Ben Affleck made for a solid Matt Murdock and Jon Favreau was spot-on as Foggy Nelson, but arguably the best performance the film had to offer was Michael Clarke Duncan as the Kingpin of Crime. (Though, to be fair, Duncan was the best part of a lot of movies in his day.)
Than being said, while Duncan's take on Wilson Fisk was a solid one, the fact remains that the film's critical mauling left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths. In turn, fans have been quick to bury the film as quickly as possible, positive aspects included.
Luckily for fans, Fisk eventually returned to the limelight in Marvel's Daredevil on Netflix with Vincent D'Onofrio stepping in to play the character. And while Duncan's Kingpin was good, D'Onofrio's Kingpin is one of the single-best villains to appear in any live-action Marvel project full stop.
He's competent, vicious yet sympathetic, and intimidating above all else. In turn, D'Onofrio's Kingpin has rightfully become the measuring stick that all Marvel Netflix villains are judged against and serves as a prime example of Marvel taking one of their most popular baddies to new heights and then some.
