7 MCU Costumes That Need To Change

4. The Hulkbuster

The Hulkbuster was first used by Tony in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, where he attempted to incapacitate an angrier-than-usual Hulk. Built for this sole purpose, it's the largest suit in Tony's arsenal in terms of pure bulk, height and width.

Ironically, it was most recently worn by Banner in Infinity War, who - considering that the Hulk wouldn't emerge - needed some firepower of his own.

Why The Costume Needs To Change: There aren't any issues with the way the Hulkbuster looks or performs - its colours are great, and unlike Tony's Infinity War armour, it's not too overpowered at all, offering a very strong punch while also being quite vulnerable if attacked by multiple enemies at once.

It's actually the way that the concept of the suit is executed on film, and more specifically, the way its helmet-less CGI looked in a number of scenes in Infinity War.

Those who saw the film probably noticed this already, but there's one shot near the end - after Thanos' snap, when the remaining heroes are stood around looking dejected - where Bruce's head can be seen sticking out of the Hulkbuster, and it looks absolutely atrocious. It's meant to be an emotional moment, but that disembodied head floating above what is quite clearly a CGI suit takes you right out of it.

There are other moments that look a bit distracting, too, like this one...

Maybe this will improve in the future and maybe they just ran out of time and money here, but with the amount of resources Marvel has at their disposal, they really need to start ironing out kinks like this.

On the other hand, if this is something that the studio is going to continue struggling with, then just leave the Hulkbuster helmet on where possible.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
