7 Most Idiotic Things Fanboys Want From Upcoming Movies

7. The Defenders Join The Fight - The Avengers: Infinity War

Given Marvel's plans to bring together The Defenders by way of five Netflix TV series - Daredevil and Jessica Jones have already aired, with Luke Cage and Iron Fist on the way, ultimately leading into a team-up show - it's easy to understand why fans might be desperate for them to make an appearance in the upcoming superhero extravaganza that is Avengers: Infinity War, what with its cosmic scale and huge story split into two-parts. Can you imagine a blockbuster in which the Avengers and the Guardians and the Defenders all come together to face-off against a common enemy? Surely that would stand as the greatest realisation of Marvel's vision of creating one cinematic/television universe - the culmination of over a decade of hard work? And yet, despite the inherent awesomeness of watching this scenario play out in all its glory, the cost of doing so would be huge. The world of the Marvel TV shows and the world of the movies are totally and utterly different, after all; despite the fact that Marvel Studios like to pretend that these entities are "interconnected," most of the time it feels like a ploy - an easy of way of drawing audiences in off the back of their love for the MCU. That's not to forget there's already far too much plot to squeeze into the film as it is, given that Infinity War will mark the climax that the MCU has been moving towards since its inception - risking the integrity of the story for the sake of pleasing the fanboys isn't wise. As fans, we should merely accept that The Defenders can wait - they're not going anywhere, after all, and Infinity War has enough on its plate already. It would be cool, but the film would suffer.
