1. Scream 4 Sidney Prescott
Some people just incite anger, purely by being present. It's unfortunate for them, but it's a fact of life. Others incite goodwill, and can attract friends with consummate ease. However, Sidney Prescott does neither of these things. What she does is attract sheer, unadulterated violence, seemingly at any point in which she's in Woodsboro. It might be her, it might be her fame as a great survivor, but apparently whenever she's around, someone's homicidal urges are always piqued. To her credit she sort of knows this, and in the hiatus between Scream 3 and 4 makes an effort to leave the town behind. However, despite her dubious status as an accidental harbinger of doom, come for the fourth installment she decides to chuck this knowledge down the toilet, coming back again and promoting her book under her own name and to much fanfare. Now, if ever there was the archetypal horror movie asking-for-it/painting a target on your back action, this was surely it. After all, Sidney attracted homicidal ire by herself before without the self-publicity, so if she's visibly fanning her own flames however inadvertently in the same town where all the murder happened, you can see something going very badly wrong, very quickly. So if you've accidentally been at the centre of three murder-fests, why incite another? Again, by this point Sidney surely knows that she's becoming the inspiration for all sorts of homicide. If I were her, I'd change my name, and go live someplace else so no more murders can happen, so rocking up to your old town with a book release and a publicist seems to be the exact antithesis of this. If Scream 5 does ever happen, I think the folk of Woodsboro should just turn her around and send her on her way after all, I think they're running out of genre-aware teens to lose at this point, and I'm sure Sidney could spare herself the trauma. So that's what I think. What do you think? Know of any more? Feel free to comment!
