7 Movie Heroes Who Fell For The Same Sh*t In The Sequel

2. X-Men: The Last Stand - Wolverine

X Men The Last Stand Everyone of a certain age has played Pokemon at some time in their lives €“ that's the unavoidable truth. As such, everyone remembers one of the first lessons it taught you (aside from not trusting scientists with an odd interest in sending children packing off around the world) €“ that certain elements don't work well against each other. An Onyx would crush a Pikachu, a Charmander would fry a Bulbasaur and a Squirtle would douse that firey little lizard seven ways of Sunday. The point was that everything has its weakness, and someone really should've told Wolverine. Much like the Pokemon world (to further string out a tortured analogy), the X-Men universe features a cast with a huge variety of abilities and equipment. As a result, it's only natural that some would counteract each other, and nowhere is this more apparent than Wolverine with Magneto. Due to experimentation and his increased healing factor, Wolverine has an adamantium skeleton. Due to his own freaky genetics, Magneto can throw around metal like it's not even a thing. So when a man can turn the hairy one into his own puppet, you can bet he's at a disadvantage. Now, you could write off Logan's attempt to stand up to Magneto in the first film's train scene €“ though he's heard of this master of magnetism, he's never actually met the bloke so you can be sure he'll chance his arm in a fight. However, it goes as you might expect €“ Erik hurls him around like a ragdoll, and scarpers off with Rogue. Yet come the third installment, you'd assume that Wolverine has plenty of knowledge about what the man in the sweet helmet can do. But does it stop his attempted charge in the forest? Of course not! Wolverine clearly doesn't learn a lesson, and ends up being thrown around the place yet again. You'd have thought would've given up solo-charging a guy who can smell iron in your blood when you're the equivalent of a metallic steak suit, but I guess not. To his credit, he finally learns his lesson come movie close and uses the same gambit to let Beast attack and de-power his nemesis, but what would've happened if Magneto felt particularly malicious in the forest and chose to tear apart this thorn in his side? Nothing, that's what, and Wolverine would've felt all sorts of silly for the one moment when he wasn't being rendered ass-from-jaw and refashioned into toothpicks.
