7 Movie Sequels You Forgot You Wanted
5. Beetlejuice 2
Michael Keaton has seen a resurgence in his popularity in recent years, thanks to his roles in Spider-Man: Homecoming and his Oscar Nomination for Birdman. The appetite for Keaton to reprise his role as the comically terrifying, undead Beetlejuice has never been stronger.
Tim Burton’s original is brilliant, shockingly funny and wonderfully original. Beetlejuice himself is the crux of the film and despite his freakishly atrocious behaviour is incredibly watchable.
Winona Ryder has gone on the record many times announcing her interest and involvement in a sequel. Whether an aged Alec Baldwin or Geena Davis would be interested is inconsequential, but it goes without saying Keaton is the star the film cannot be made without.
In 2017 Warner Brothers hired a new writer for the project of Beetlejuice 2. Mike Vukadinovich, a fairly green scribe, is now holding the pen. With the original turning thirty this year, it would have been the perfect time for a sequel to come out. Despite news that a project is being scripted, it’s looking less and likely that we are going to get a second Beetlejuice before 2019.
