5. Rogue One

While Rogue One isn't the greatest Star Wars movie ever, it's better than the Prequels, Solo, and Return of the Jedi, and it's tighter and more focused than The Last Jedi and The Force Awakens, which makes for a more satisfying viewing experience overall. It also works extremely well when watched alongside A New Hope, and the film does more than enough to earn its spot within the Star Wars legacy.

It's actually weird how good this movie is, because it doesn't even need to exist in the first place. Where Deadpool needed to redeem the character and Get Him to the Greek was giving us more of a good thing, this prequel story isn't essential to understand the Star Wars saga, but it was done so well that it's now impossible to watch A New Hope without thinking of the sacrifice that the Rogue One crew made.

But aside from that main quest to retrieve the Death Star plans, the movie will be remembered for gracing our eyeballs with the greatest Vader scene ever put to film. It's now quite hard to watch him in the original films because of how stiff his movements are, but here, the Sith Lord's power is unleashed as he mercilessly slaughters his way through a corridor of helpless Rebel soldiers.

It's jaw-dropping to watch and serves as the icing on the cake of an already fantastic story, and it's standout moments like this that took a potentially throwaway movie and made it an essential slice of Star Wars viewing.
