7 Movies Way Better Than They Had Any Right To Be
3. Clue
Clue is a 1985 murder-mystery comedy film based on the board game 'Clue' (or Cluedo as we proud residents of Her Majesty’s Sceptered Isle like to call it). It’s a good game, but a fairly flimsy premise to base an entire film around.
Add in the fact that star Carrier Fischer had to withdraw from her role as Ms. Scarlett and the filmmakers original choice for Wadsworth, Leonard Rossiter, actually died before the filming could commence, and you didn't need to be a detective to predict the whole production was set up to fail before it even began.
Although suffering a poor box office performance, the film has since garnered a passionate cult following that collective ensure the film will never fade from public consciousness.
In spite of all its struggles, Clue managed to take the characters and general theme of the game and twist it into an enjoyable and mind-bendingly quotable cult classic.
