7 Perfect Time Travel Movies (And 7 That Sucked)

7 Time Travel Movies That Sucked...

7. Black Knight

Coming off the back of the successful and throughly entertaining Bad Boys movie, the star of Martin Lawerence was most definitely on the rise. His crass comic talents worked a treat as part of a double act, exemplified with his work with Will Smith in Bad Boys and Eddie Murphy in the tragically underrated Life.

Unfortunately though, placing Lawerence in the solo lead role proved to be a poor call, his crude humour taking over and infecting every movie he anchored. While there were some moderate laughs to be had in the ho-hom Big Momma's House, his effort in the 2001 time travel comedy Black Knight is so lame it's laughable.

The film sees Lawerence's character, Jamal Walker, working at a theme park called Medieval World, where he finds a medallion that sucks him into the past. Lawerence plays his character like he is an idiot, bumbling from one nonsensical scenario to the next while struggling to muster a single laugh from the audience.

The concept of a comedic time travel movie is one that can prove extremely effective, as can be seen from later entries on this list. Unfortunately Lawerence's crass humour is all that is on offer here, the only moments of any genuine humour when Jamal tries to teach pro wrestling skills to the peasants fighting the king.

To make matters worse, it is inferred at the end of the film that Jamal's adventures could have all been a dream, which perfectly summarises just how lazy this movie is.
