7 Reasons Deadpool Has The Edge Over X-Men: Apocalypse

5. All The Pluses Of Being In The X Universe And None Of The Minuses

Although Deadpool has the distinction of sharing a universe with the other X-Men related films, it will be a standalone film focusing solely on the man with the head that looks as if it was molested by a cheese grater. Age Of Apocalypse does not have this freedom. The X-Men films are becoming as long-winded and inaccessible as their comic book predecessors. The cast is ridiculously huge, leading to actors being wasted with only a few lines to spit, tropes are repeated over and over again and the plot development can become overtly erratic, with all manners of time travel and clichéd scientific shenanigans that leave the average moviegoer wondering just what it was they just witnessed. I may catch some flack for this, but although Days Of Future Past could be fun at times, it was a little bit of a mess. The plot resembled the X Universe in the mid-90€™s, where there were a ridiculous amount of X-Men comics on the stands and anyone looking to begin reading the comics were instantly transformed into a blubbering wad of despair. Age of Apocalypse is an even more daring story-line that will be equally difficult to portray, with the shadow of convoluted continuity cast over it. Deadpool would be best to stay away from the rest of the X-Men for the time being. Sure, the fact that it shares a universe with the immensely popular X-Men franchise will do it no harms in terms of revenue, but let€™s not forget that the last time Wade Wilson was featured in a film with other prominent X-Men characters, the character was neutered. However, I€™m not going to discuss Wolverine: Origins, for my own sanity. Actually, I will discuss Wolverine: Origins of Wolverine€™s Jacket because how in the hell do you take a character known as €˜the Merc with a Mouth€™ and think it€™s a good idea to turn him into the €˜the Merc with a Mouthful of Stitches€™?! With that one, shameful plot twist, Fox set the Deadpool movie back eleven freakin€™ years.
