4. There Won't Be A Soundtrack
Strike up a conversation about Guardians Of The Galaxy with a friend and it's almost certain that the first topic to come up will be the soundtrack. Featuring pop-rock classics like Hooked On A Feeling and Ain't No Mountain High Enough, it helped set the movie apart from the dozens of other blockbusters and comic-book features surrounding it at the time.
It wasn't just a mindless afterthought on James Gunn's part, either - it was a pivotal plot point. The music helped Peter Quill come to terms with the death of his mother, and, in a world of pirates, thieves, gods and assassins, kept that much-needed spark of humanity alive within him. Without it, Peter Quill wouldn't be that same Peter Quill we left at the end of the first movie - the music helped him grow and evolve as a character, and without it, the Guardians lose their heart.
And it seems rather safe to assume that Infinity War will lack this musical touch. In a way, the decision to make music the focal point of the Guardians franchise - from the marketing campaign to the movie itself - has painted the filmmakers into a corner. People now associate Star-Lord and co. with these tunes, and by taking them away? Not only will they betray Peter Quill - they'll betray audience expectations.
