7. Spidey Wins
Prometheus falters in the overexposure of footage that was shoved in our faces before the film was released. While everybody was complaining that too much was being shown in trailers and TV spots, I defended the film by stating that they knew what they were doing, and more surprises will be left in that we hadnt been shown yet. I was wrong. When watching the film, I realised that a decent sized clip from just about every scene had been shown prior to release, and nothing actually came as a surprise. In the case of Spider-Man, while I was surprised when watching Prometheus for the 4th time that they decided to show a six minute clip of the film during the trailers, I felt they actually kept something back for the audience, so when watching the actual film, you felt you were watching it for the first time, and not just a compilation of trailers and TV spots, which is how I felt about Prometheus. Spider-Man might not have been what everybody was hoping, and is by no means the best film of the summer, but in terms of entertainment value and ticking all the right boxes, it seems it ticks more than Prometheus does. I really wanted to love Prometheus. Fingers crossed for the sequels.
