1. Hugo Weaving Became Agent Smith To Make Tiny Versions Of Himself Fight Each Other
If youve read my articles before, youll know that I love Hugo Weaving, simply because the man knows how to ham up a film if he wants. If youve starred in Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert, anything after that will seem like childs play, and Weaving shows this to be true he pantomimed his way through the Marvel and Matrix Universe, went full-blown hammy for Lord of the Rings and made V as British as he possibly could in V For Vendetta. What you might not know about Weaving though, is why he took the role of Agent Smith. Like most actors who signed onto the Wachowski siblings epics, he was naturally intrigued about the films premise, but what really sold it for him was the fact hed get to be immortalised as a toy. What Weaving wanted to do with these toys was so spatuclarly ridiculous that you might even worry for him he wanted to make likenesses of himself fight each other. Really, Im not kidding. The reason Weaving played Agent Smith possibly one of the most iconic villains of the last decade or so was so he could stage Battle Royales filled with tiny versions of himself. This is also the reason he played Elrond in Lord of the Rings. I dont know whether Im disturbed or impressed, but frankly, if you have the ability to make it happen, why not do it? I say bravo to him, the crazy, crazy man. Can you think of any others? Please, comment below!
