7 Roles Taken By Actors For Ridiculously Awesome Reasons

2. Michael Caine Was In Journey 2 Because He Wanted To Ride A Bumblebee

Caine Actors ply their trade in their limelight, so they can€™t help but think about what people think of them. After all, it€™s a business entirely based on public reaction, and everyone hopes they can be well-received to some extent. But when you€™re an established legend of the screen like Michael Caine, you don€™t really have to worry about that. Instead, you can use your film roles to one-up the rest of society, which is exactly what Caine chose to do with Journey To The Centre Of The Earth. Much like many actors before him, Caine took his role as a way to impress his grandkids, and he wanted to do it in the most spectacular way possible. Namely, he wanted to ride a giant 3D bumblebee to completely trump every other granddad ever. Being fair, if you€™re going to attempt something like that you€™ve got to go big or go home, and by god, did Caine go big. Let€™s be fair, we all want to leave a legacy when we pass over into the great beyond, and there€™s not many better ways to do than just completely go for broke. Many people try to build statues of themselves, others try to break world records and more again just buy a park bench with their plaque on it. Really, I think Caine might have us all beaten with his bumblebee antics €“ for an epitaph to have on a gravestone, bee-rider is pretty damn fine. I think his grand-kids can sleep safe knowing he's got the competition trumped.
