7 Science Fiction Movies That Embarrass The Genre

1. Battlefield Earth

Also known as Scientology: The Movie, Battlefield Earth is a feature that isn't just bad, but horrifying. If you took everything that's wrong with it out of the equation, you would just have the end credits left to watch. I'm not kidding. The two follow-up entries on this list were at least funny at times if you watch them whilst in a good mood. Not this one. Even the mighty Travolta, whose performance has been described as "hammy" by the early critics, sinks to new levels of terribleness. Oh, you cannot comprehend the all hamminess hiding in this movie. The storyline consists of more plot holes than are even possible to exist, whilst the dialogue tries to sound clever and/or scary, but fails miserably on all points. Quite possibly, the only use this movie has is to deter our young from becoming Scientologists. The only good thing that has come out of the whole ordeal is the fact that it's now impossible to do the same thing again. It's actually quite sad, because it's apparent that the actors are hoping for the new Star Wars treatment. Thank God that it flopped so bad, because Travolta wanted to make a follow-up.
