7 Secret Villains In Comic Book Movies

7. The Leader (The Incredible Hulk)

Any fan worth their salt will have recognised the true identity of 'Mr. Blue' (Tim Blake Nelson), the incognito scientist who is attempting to assist Bruce Banner in finding a cure for his anger problems. When he introduces himself in person, finally, aficionados recognised the name - Samuel Sterns - as the alter-ego of the Green Goliath's long-time nemesis, the Leader. Things only got cooler as relentless commando bad guy Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth) has his own Hulk-out moment to become Abomination, and Sterns gets some of Banner's blood in a wound on his forehead in the process. We see his head go all bulbous (a nod to the comics, where his head is basically one giant brain) and mutate, as a strange smile spreads across his face. It's a great little moment, and in his limited amount of screentime, Nelson really sold the desire for knowledge and power that Sterns was always after in the comics. Unfortunately, we are yet to see a follow-up to 2008's underrated Hulk film, but if we did, I'd wager Tim Blake Nelson would be in line for an awesome comeback as the Leader.
