7 Secret Villains In Comic Book Movies

6. Deadshot (The Dark Knight Rises)

A case has already been made for the fact that the minor henchman character of Barsad (Josh Stewart) in The Dark Knight Rises is, in fact, Deadshot (soon to be played by Will Smith in next year's Suicide Squad). Initial evidence for the case is his proficiency with a gun; Barsad is at one point seen pumping bullets into Gotham City's Finest from a good distance, with little to no effort, in the scene where Gordon and his men go down into the sewers. His attire (and notably, the red neckerchief he sports - Deadshot typically dresses in the same colour) also suggests a realistic, 'Nolanised' version of the fan favourite. Deadshot is rumoured to have appeared by name in earlier drafts of the script for Rises, so it stands to reason that the basic template for the character was retained for what the film eventually became, albeit with a name change - presumably so as not to detract from the two main villains of the piece (Bane and Talia Al Ghul) and the late addition of Catwoman. I certainly don't find the rumour or theory the craziest ever spread. For all intents and purposes, Barsad is Deadshot - if fans want him to be. To paraphrase Shakespeare, 'An assassin by any other name would still shoot as sweet.'
