7 Sequels That Changed Everything We Thought We Knew About The Villain

3. T-800 - Terminator 2: Judgement Day

What’s cooler than a seemingly unstoppable killer robot played by Arnold Schwarzenegger? The exact same killer robot played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, but this time he’s on your side. He said he’d be back, and he came back awesome.

Terminator 2 reimaging the T-800 and as a hero was in a stroke of genius on James Cameron’s part. The first Terminator film already established the destructive power of the T-800, which leaves Terminator 2 free to explore a different side to the machine.

Throughout T2 we get to spend time with the T-800 as it protects John and Sarah Connor, and with them we see it grow to become something that feels real. We see it transform into something we can understand as it grows to understand us.

Who'd have thought the same T-800 model that terrified us back in the original Terminator could leave us in tears by the end of Terminator 2? One of the saddest movie death scenes ever. Period.
