7 Sequels That Changed Everything We Thought We Knew About The Villain

2. Severus Snape – Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince basically set up Snape as a clear contender for creepiest, evil bastard of all time award. After years of low level bullying and suspicious behaviour, Snape seemly revealed his true allegiance to Lord Voldemort when he murdered Dumbledore, blasting his corpse from the highest tower of Hogwarts.

But the final film turned Snape’s character on his head like James Potter with the Levicorpus jinx. As his final act, Snape passes on his memories to Harry, which reveals the truth about where Snape’s true loyalty lay.

Snape, in fact, killed Dumbledore on the headmaster’s own orders, and lead Harry to the sword of Gryffindor which enabled him to destroy Voldemort’s Horcruxes and ultimately triumph over the Dark Lord. The biggest twist of all? We finally see Severus’ true motivation throughout his whole life; he loved Harry’s mother.

Always.
