7 Shark Films The Meg Will Blow Out Of The Water

1. Jaws: The Revenge

Whilst Jaws: The Revenge might not be as terrible as some of the other flicks on this list, it's certainly nowhere near Spielberg's original in terms of its quality. It was made in just nine months, whereas all other movies were produced in around two years each, so you know exactly the kind of cash-in that you're in for: a film entirely banking on the name and iconic theme bringing you in.

Shooting for a serious movie doesn't quite work when the shaky, quick-cut editing and bizarre sound editing doesn't let you see or hear much of anything as our toothy foe chows down on some of the residents. Where Jaws was a slow burn occasionally punctured by shocking deaths, Jaws: The Revenge strives more towards shock and jump scares.

We know that the shark will tear into several residents and tourists in the Bahamas, there's nothing foreboding left after four movies tried the same formula. Given this fourth entry is accompanied by ageing special effects and a lower budget, Jaws: The Revenge released less believable than ever before. It's no wonder that the franchise went extinct after this last movie.

If Michael Caine can't save your movie, no one can.
