8 Comic Book Film Adaptations You Didn't Know Were In Development

7. Bananaman

Um, yeah, this is a real thing. The 1980s comic strip superhero, who went on to have his own cartoon series, is being turned into a film. The comic and series follow a kid named Eric Wimp (subtly, eh?), who is somehow transformed into Bananaman, a superhero with powers basically identical to those of Superman. We€™re not sure if the creators were trying to advocate to kids the importance of eating fruit or if they€™d spend too much time on the bananadine. He would usually do battle with characters who were direct parodies of other established characters, such as Doctor Gloom, a send up of Marvel's Doctor Doom, whilst also munching even more bananas to the ones that he'd already eaten to give him even more extravagant superpowers. Coming from kids comics stalwart The Dandy, the tone was much more childish than standard superhero fare, which will likely be reflective of the film. A film adaptation was announced back in 2014, with a teaser poster unveiled, but since then there€™s been very few updates, so when you can expect it in cinemas is unclear.

David Gelmini hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
