7 Star Wars Actors Who Slammed The Franchise
4. David Prowse
David Prowse's large frame made him the perfect actor to play Darth Vader, and he had a lot of good things to say about the first Star Wars trilogy. That said, he wasn't entirely pleased to have his dialogue replaced by James Earl Jones, and the fact that another actor's face was shown at the end of Return of the Jedi might have stung a little.
Prowse wasn't brought back to reprise his role as Vader in the prequel trilogy, which might have had something to do with his opinion of the films:
"I didn't like Star Wars I, II and III at all. I think the common opinion now is they were really bad movies....There's no comparison with the original movies. They had a much more believable story."
To be fair, Prowse's opinion of the prequel trilogy isn't unique to him — there are plenty of fans who feel the same way about George Lucas' revisit to the franchise he created. Other than that opinion, Prowse had a falling out with Lucas, which he spoke about in an interview with The Sun:
"People ask what went wrong with George Lucas but to be honest, I still don’t really know… Those behind the film cut me out and have continued to ignore me for years. So do I have any interest in watching the new movie? No, I don’t."
