The greatest villain in cinema history - here he is. When it was announced that the Walt Disney Company had purchased the Star Wars franchise, it was announced shortly after that Darth Vader would return to the big screen. This drove fans crazy with the speculation that we would be seeing Darth Vader in Episode VII. How could that be? Darth Vader died and was burnt in the funeral pyre on Endor, right? Disney is already ruining Star Wars! What if Darth Vader's return to the Star Wars Universe was actually in the form of a spin-off story? Surprisingly, there has not been a lot of talk about this possibility. In the form of continuity, it makes no sense for the Darth Vader of the original trilogy to return in Episode VII as he was redeemed before his death. Unless they explore some sort of cloning storyline in the next trilogy, Darth Vader will be getting his own spin-off. A lot of fans felt ripped off at only seeing a short amount of screen time of the Darth Vader suit in Revenge of the Sith. The real focus was always supposed to be about Darth Vader the man prior to his injuries and confinement to the suit to survive, of course. There is an approximate 19-year gap between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope and it makes sense that a Darth Vader story could easily take place in that area while hunting down the last remnants of the Jedi Order. It could be a dangerous story to tell, though. It might taint the image of Darth Vader even further than the prequel trilogy if the fallen hero aspects were shown even further, rather than his true villainous form that is seen in A New Hope. Darth Vader was loved more as the mysterious baddy than the fallen, whiny Jedi he became in that overblown prequel trilogy. What do you think? Who else do you think might get the "solo" spin-off treatment from the original films? Follow me on Twitter.
