2. Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine

Going into the prequel trilogy, one thing that all fans of the original trilogy knew immediately when they introduced this character, was that Palpatine would become the Emperor. How he would lurk in the shadows and manipulate the events behind the scenes was the real dramatic stuff. The prequel trilogy was about finding out how Palpatine seduced Anakin Skywalker to the Dark Side, of course. Learning about the origins of his motives would be truly entertaining, then, and could make for a good feature film. Much like the prequel trilogy was meant to show the introduction and fall of Anakin Skywalker, a spin-off Palpatine film could reveal his seduction to the Dark Side and the Sith philosophy. Was he ever a good person? Or was he always ambitious and power hungry before becoming a Dark Lord of the Sith? Given his portrayal on-screen, it is easy to believe that Palpatine has always been power hungry from the beginning. Let's see it, then.
