7 Star Wars Vehicles We Need To See In Episode VII

7. Podracers

Podrace Oh no, I shouldn€™t do this. I really shouldn€™t. I should at least open with something like the Tie Fighter or maybe the Snowspeeder. I€™m sorry for writing this. Please forgive me somehow. Well, here goes any sense of credibility. The Podracers need to be in Episode VII. Come on, they do! I can justify this. Somehow. The Podracers aren€™t even from the original trilogy, I know, I know. And the racing probably stopped when Jabba died and there was no incentive to race. But bear with me here. The Podracers are a brilliant concept. They€™re exciting, futuristic, like nothing we€™ve seen before or since Phantom Menace. And in the context of Episode VII, they could work. They don€™t even have to be a main story point, just show them as the setting of something more important. After all, the Empire has been destroyed, and supposed peace can return to the galaxy. That surely means non-violent Podracing (violent explosive crashes aside) can return to the desert flatlands of Tatooine. Or maybe change the setting, take the Podracers to Hoth and let them kick up the snow. Or Cloud City. €œThe Lando Calrissian Memorial Trophy.€ How about having Luke Skywalker race in one. He€™s shown he can fly basically anything else. An ageing Luke taking on all the other puppets. No Force allowed! Admiral Ackbar can wave the double chequered flags.

I like writing about films and hope you like reading about them too. And watching them, of course.
