5. Sony And Fox Aren't Going To Let Go Of Spider-Man And The X-Men
Admittedly the most disappointing thing for a lot of people about the MCU is that it'll never get to see the involvement of any and all characters that Marvel wants to bring into it. While a few character rights have managed to revert back to Marvel over the years, such as Daredevil, the heaviest hitters won't be finding their way home for a long, long, long time. Spider-Man continues to be tangled up at Sony while the X-Men are at Fox along with the Fantastic Four. Love them or hate them, as long as the Spider-Man movies continue to make money, which they always will, Sony is never going to let him go back to Disney and if a rumored attempt around putting the Oscorp Building in The Avengers couldn't even work out, a full corporate crossover is never going to happen, either. As for Marvel's famous mutants, the X-Men franchise is as popular today as it's ever been, with Fox already looking (again) to a future of many X-films. And should they find success with their Fantastic Four reboot, expect their grip on that franchise to tighten up immediately. Despite the cold hard truth, many people still find their way into discussions about either franchise for the sole purpose of angrily exclaiming that the rights should go back to Marvel before fading into the ether until the next one. Others, too, will often demonstrate their misunderstanding of the rights issues and the differences in corporate entities by using other studios' cinematic failures of other characters, like Sony's Ghost Rider, to level complaints at Marvel Studios that "prove" they're not successful. In any event, as sad as it is, it's time to accept that wasting one's time and energy into listing all the reasons why Spider-Man and the X-Men should go back to Marvel is only counterproductive at this point and -- for those who somehow still haven't grasped the fact -- that Marvel Studios is not and has not been responsible for films outside the scope of their MCU.
