5. Predator

In Predator, Arnold Schwarzenegger proved he could look as deadly in face paint as he did in a leather jacket.

John McTiernan's jungle film continued the trend of a team work ethic seen a year earlier in Aliens, flanking Arnie with WWE wrestler Jesse "The Body" Ventura and Carl Weathers from the Rocky franchise, where interestingly the idea for Predator was spawned.

After Rocky IV, a joke was doing the rounds in Hollywood that Sly's character had nobody left to fight so he'd have to slog it out with an alien which screenwriters - and idea that Jim and John Thomas loved, and so it began.

Needless to say everyone dies except the Governator's character, but you do get some cool shots of the Predator, guns, gurning, swearing, explosions and plenty of plastic trees. What's not to love?
