7 Trailers That Blatantly Lied To You In 2017
6. Thor: Ragnarok
Thor: Ragnarok's debut trailer did a great job of selling the movie, its neon colours and blaring synthesises signposting the fact this would be a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie unlike any other in style, but it also told a white lie.
At the two-minute mark, there's footage of Chris Hemsworth's thunder god leaping onto the Bifrost Bridge, imbued with electrical power. Watching this scene in hindsight, it's notably different from the version in the cinematic cut.
Thor clearly has both eyes intact in the trailer, but by this point in the story, his left one had been slashed out during the battle with Cate Blanchett's Hela. Marvel Studios obviously edited the promo footage to cover up a plot point.
The comic book giant can be forgiven for sheltering fans from a game-changing reveal like this, but going forward, can they fully trust MCU trailers and take them at face value? What's to say Marvel hasn't papered over the Black Panther and Infinity War teasers to mask spoilerific content in them?
